Oil in spark plug sockets

Post by weeJohn »

I did a service on my 3SGTE yesterday and there was about 30mm of oil in the spark plug sockets on cylinders 2 and 4 before I removed the plugs. I was guessing it was the socket seals on the cam cover but wondered if anyone had found another reason for it?

cam cover gasket, it comes in two parts, the second part goes around cylinder 2 and 3 spark plug

you will need to put a pea sized blob of silicone in the cam corners or it'll leak from there...you more than likely see the stuff when you remove the old gasket.
