[All] [Generic] Looking for a new headunit.

Post by msherry21 »

Hi all, I'm looking to buy a new headunit for the mk2. I need to be able to use it for handsfree calling and to be able to plug my iphone/pod etc into the back of it so I can listen to music. (I could then just put the phone in the glove box and control it all from the headunit)

What does everyone else have that has these 2 main features? Can anyone recommend a good system?

Cheers, Michael.

Yeah .... alpine X305s. Built for i phone/pod all controlled from the unit and a decent display so you can actually see your menus etc. Looks good too... pic in my garage.

Brilliant mate, thanks for that, I'll have a look at it now.

Any other suggestions?

daylight robbery if u go halfords mate, what you could do is see what items they have then type the brand/make onto ebay or a car audio site and see how much you will save :thumleft:

Yeah, even with the Halfords sale buying a Sony stereo is still cheaper direct from Sony!!

I had something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/200745572015

The parrot one looks great. Be careful with the cheap all in one as allot of the time you cant control the ipod or there are other limiting factors. Same goes for the hands free. I purchased a cheap one for my wife with built in hands free and all i could do is answer calls nothing else worked including phone book sync.

Have you ended up with anything yet Michael?
Forgot to add when fitting it's best (IMO) to leave the i-pod connector in the change drawer rather than the glovebox.. most phones fit a treat and far less obvious.

Hi, I've not bought one yet but the one that I'm most likely to buy is:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/08-Series-New ... 5d286722b7

It has, bluetooth hands free, rear input for Ipod/ Iphone and it looks like a good quality aftermarket stereo that almost looks OEM in my opinion.

Anyone already have one? any good?

Cheers, Michael.

Looks nice. I like the single central control and enough room on the display to see full menu info. Good price too I'd say.
