[FINALIZED] 1990 (G) MR2 Rev1 GT T-bar Turbo SOLD :)

Post by paxo_pete »

Unfortunately my car has been laid up for over a year now. I am renovating a house and do not get time to use it and I need the money. The car is sorn and no MOT so will need a trailer to take it away. The car has passed all its previous MOTs fine since ive had it and was running fine when I put it in the garage but now needs some TLC.

90k-ish mls. Part service history. Since I have owned the car I have had all works/ services done by GTSchris . Always allowed to warm up/cool down and run on Shell Vpower. Car ran a healthy 11psi and never allowed to over boost. No smoke on start up. T-bar rubbers are fine, only the slightest drip from passenger side in really heavy rain. Car always garaged and never used in snow. Pre-cat model so no faffing about with a cat at MOT time.

Works done:-

New Toyota shocks/Eibach springs/Top mounts all round
New alternator
New distributor cap and oil seal
New cambelt
New rocker gasket
New coolant and good cond 2nd hand later model radiator
Oil/Plugs changed regularly
Spare CT26 turbo and alternator.

Mods:-

Resprayed Astra VXR Arden Blue
16” Enkei Magnesium Black Alloys (staggered 7x16, 8x16) with decent tread on tyres.
Powerflow type exhaust
Rogue style sideskirts
Forge dumpvalve
Blitz SUS airfilter
Re-trimmed interior to match paintwork
Isotta steering wheel/gear knob
Single wiper conversion
R-spec MBC
Pro-sport boost gauge
Stainless dials
Turbo timer
TOAD alarm
Rev3 brake upgrade (callipers/discs/pads) much improved over Rev1 brakes.
Stainless steel style interior trim
Whiteline ARB’s

Bad points:

Aircon has never worked.

Some interior trim is loose and driver side wing mirror loose.

Speedo drive assembly packed in so speedo doesn’t work and dials went a little funny and you can’t read mileage. Previous reading was a mix of kms/mls so exact mileage unknown. Approx 90k based on what ive done and previous owner said.

Stereo screen has gone blank but it still plays ok.

Oil leak from camshaft seals. I have been quoted £200 to fix by a local garage. Spoke to Gtschris about it and he said it was a leak coming down between the block and the cam cover and not causing any issues and I could just live with it so I have.

Whoever wired in the alarm did it so the windows stayed live which used to drain the battery, but I wired in a little switch to reset them.

Unfortunately the previous owners weren’t bothered about keeping paperwork so very little history but I have kept all my receipts/invoices etc.

Wheels are a bit scuffed but not too bad.

When I recently started the car to check it there was a tapping noise coming from the engine which the majority of people on the forums reckoned was tappets so valves might need adjusting. You can hear it on this vid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0AASM6p ... e=youtu.be

I have tried to be as honest as possible about the car but it has been modified a lot by the previous owner so there may be things I don’t even know about, so any inspection welcome. I’m sure if you called Gtschris he would tell you about the car, ive put plenty of money his way. The car was an absolute blast to drive on a sunny day and always put a smile on my face and got plenty of attention. Car cost me £4k in Apr 08 and I have spent £3k since.

Easily a couple of grand in mods if you want to break it. Looking to get £1,500

Just saw your thread on the tapping noise. I had a rev 2 turbo that had a horrible tapping sound coming from what sounded like the rocker cover, a local 'expert' told me it was the turbo, then the big ends and that the engine would have to be systematically pulled apart untill he found what was up with it!
I investigated myself and turned out to be an exhaust manifold gasket leak, nothing more. Just sounded terrible, very mechanical sound, not at all like gas escaping....
Just a thought! :thumleft:

seeing this at 1k is breaking me!! is there no way you can keep it. or at least break it for spares? it's got to be worth putting on axle stands in a garage and starting up every now and again and keeping hold of...?
