First mods of 2012

Post by mk1bexwa »

Hi All,

Happy new year.

Now I thought I would post my first mods of the new year, so here goes.

I have finally got round to fitting my Apex lowering springs with the shocks off of my old MK1 and what a difference it has made the car drives even better no I'm so pleased, I also have put my 16" wheels on that i refurbed ready for when i was going to put my last MK1 back on the road.

Here's a pic of how she looks now, what do you think?

Car looks very good Bex :thumleft:

SuperRed is my preferred colour for the Mk1

Will look for your previous thread re the bolt-on arches, etc

Peter

PS the cat seems to like it too :)

I love the bolt on arches! cant wait to make myself a set, unsure as whether to leave in bare carbon, or to paint in red.

I would say I think the bolt on arches are minging, but im looking at purchasing a Satria GTI in the summer, which has these as standard...

Im guessing the material under the arches is not rusty?

The arches look like to me that there is more space between the tyre n arch but thats just me.

Good clean colour - are you going to put the pinstripes back on?

I'm afraid to say that it is a very good picture and the car has had a respray in its past and someone as sprayed rattle tin paint on the top. I am negotiting cost of respraying at the moment so once the car is done i hope to put the stripes on.

The metal under the bolt on arches is in fairly good condition.

The rear wheels need a little bit of spacing out then they will sit right, but the wheels sit in the arches better then when the car was standard ride height.

Bex,

before you space the wheels out you will need to cut away the original arch or the tyres will get shredded on it everytime you go over a bump, especially if its lowered

bit of a guide i did here if any use...
