Anyone want to become a Racing Driver?

Post by Rogue »

Hi All,

Back in 2010 I organised a group discount on ARDS tests with Motorsport Vision at Bedford Autodrome. This was a great success with more than ten people attending, all of whom passed and some going on to race.

I'm looking at the possibility of doing the same again this year if there's sufficient interest. The format of the day normally works that you take your own car along and treat it like a regular trackday. At some point you will be joined by an instructor who will take you through everything you need to know (racing line, entry, apex, exit, etc) and then you will be assessed. There's also a written test in the afternoon (ie tick boxes) which is a breeze for anyone with common sense.

Last time around the cost was in the region of £350, so use this as an indicator. If you've got any questions or want to register your interest then please do so in this thread.

Best regards,

I thought it said AIDS test for a min. I thought to myself, "how does AIDS make you become a racing driver?"

Score 1 for quick reading.

I'd love to, but don't presently have a suitable car (I don't fancy doing it in a Fiesta). Any options for renting a track car for the day, or similar?

Do you need to get the go racing pack first? How about helmets and clothing?

..the only thing I can promise for sure is slow progress.

just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

Still in the garage...

My wallet will not be happy about me writing this, but could well be interested.
