[Mk2] [Generic] Thank You's and mechanics (who aren't)

Post by justdandy »

Just a note to say thank you to all who replied to me reference my alternator. Nope, not fixed. 'mechanic' in garage (who said he knew MR2's) let me order wrong alternator from TCB Performance (who are fantastic) and then said it took 4 1/2 hours to see that it was the wrong alternator - after I asked him to measure to see which one was needed..... Got a recommendation from IMOC for a mobile who knows his stuff, but couldnt use him as he was fully booked - will in future!

I am changing the name of Stoke on Trent to The OK coral - as have met so many cowboys in this place!! They wont even give a price for a service! So I will be paying (the recommended mechanic) to travel for miles to fix my car because no one in Stoke is any use!!! Anyhoo should be back tomoro - not holding breath tho - A big thank you to IMOC uk folk who as usual helped.

Who was the mobile mechanic? 4 1/2 hours for an alternator is a long long time, I done mine on the ground in an hour.

What garage did you go to originally, and who was the mobile?

Thanks for the posts.

Mobile has disappeared into thin air! If not, I would have got my money back, trust me.

Yep, 4.5 hours.... I did say to the guy it takes 30 seconds. you hold the alternator you took off in one hand - the new one in the other.... you can see if they dont match!

I am going there tomorrow, we will see if the guy tries to charge more than the £140+ vat he quoted (as I have bought the alt.).

Again thanks for the posts.

Sorry to hear you didnt get this sorted properly.

If you had just been able to wait a couple of days I could have sorted everything out no problems.

Make sure you give me a call next time and dont go using anymore cowboys.

Lewis.
