Rear tyres...any suggestions?

Post by Lincs-SW20 »

As the title suggests, It's about time to replace the rear tyres on my car. I'm running the 15" rev 3 alloys. Any suggestions for a good tyre to try? I've got t1r's on the front. Cheers.

falken FK452's get my vote. harder and longer lasting than the T1R's that you can't buy easily anyway :(

I think T1-R's may be your only option - I don't think you can get the 452's in that size any more (225/50R15) and the 912's they do in that size are hard to come by (and not as good as the 452's by all accounts).

I upgraded to 16's for this reason - more choice of tyres. Worth looking around - a pair of T1-R's will set you back about £180ish, for £150-200 you might be lucky and get a set of 16's with reasonable tyres on!

I run falken 912's rear and have nothing but good things to say about them. personally i rate them better than the t1r's although im primarily rating them on track performance.

T1-R is about the best bet on the rear.

Falken 452 don't seem to be available anymore and Falken 912's are too hard a compound imo.

T1-R is just about your only choice, and probably the best in that size anyway.

Finding tyres in the right size seems to be exactly the issue! :(

Looking on black circles, my only options seem to be 912's at £89 each or T1R's at £114 each!!! :o :o :o

EDIT: Camskill seems much more reasonable :)

£88.60 for T1R's & £77.50 for 912's

OH and also, my current very worn rears are Yoko's...it's just the fronts which are T1R's.

I managed to get some Yoko Advan A022's for the rear of mine, they were good! On 16's now, but keeping the stockers for the moment as my Super Advans need a refurb. And some better tyres. The rear tyres are the wrong size and are pretty budget, and the front pair are mismatched and just not very good

Probably going to go for 452's all round, just need to sort out some sizing.

912s are a shoddy tread pattern too, lead to terrible understeer when I had them on my fronts.

I'm going to move up to a 16" wheel when my current A022s wear out.

The choice in a 15" is shockingly poor.

Well, so long as I can get the T1-Rs I'm happy with my slightly larger 15s. I think they're a great all year tyre. When they're gone it may be different.

Unfortunately there arent many cars with 225/50R15 as the OEM size :(

Much more choice at 225/45R16, not sure what size to go for at the front though.... probably 205/45R16 i think!
