My Rev3 Turbo

Post by Kitch »

Well i owned a Rev1 N/a uk spec for 4 years untill i could afford the insurance on a turbo car.

Thought it was great at the time but one day decided i didnt like it and wanted a more standard looking car so i found a fresh import in a dealers,

After the money i wasted on bodywork on the N/a the plan was to keep this one standardish with very few body mods and just tweak the power with basic bolt on stuff.
The car came with a few mods:-

TOM air scoop
HKS mushroom filter
BLITZ cast de-cat
HKS Hi-power silent exhaust
Uprated LSD that its very agressive
TIEN HA coilovers with top mounts
ENKEI 16" staggerd & dished splitrims

Fitted my Rev6 lowrise headlights and HID's, Painted the ENKEI's black and just gave the car a good detail and it came up lovley. Few splashes of colour in enginebay and a HKS SSQV were added.
Chris sorted me a Blitz MBC and boost was turnned up to 1.1bar.
That was it the car was finished! other then running costs was not going to cost me a penny more...

Well that didnt last long and before i knew it i had got the bodywork bug again on went the
border kit,
Sieborn carbon bonnet,
TRD carbon spoiler,
BLITZ Nur spec
GReddy smic
Aquamist meth injection
Double staggard ENKEI's 17 x 8 front & 18 x 9 rear
Right thats it tho now! not spending a penny more on it...

Well Chris decided he was selling his AWESOME BLITZ Technospeeds so ok ill spend a bit more, then the TRD spoiler got swapped for a bomex one.
Well thats it now not spending ANY more!!

Untill..... Standard Turbo decided to give up on me....

so... After a few chats with Chris and simon @ YVS Performance i endded up with this spec :-

Garratt GT3082 Turbo
38mm Tial wastegate
GReddy smic
MoTeC M400 EMS
BLITZ 850cc injectors
Walbro in tank fuel pump
Forged pistons
Full engine refresh, oil pump, water pump, belt, tensioner ect ect...

Final Spec :-

Siebon Carbon bonnet
Gandor Carbon mirrors
Bomex Rear spoiler
Carben creations headlamp covers
Rev6 low rise headlights
USDM rear lights
Clear Tobes
Tien Superstreet with top mounts
Blitz Technospeeds
Grooved brake disks
Yellow stuff pads

Garratt GT3082 turbo
38mm Tial wastegate
GReddy smic
MoTeC M400 EMS (boost set at 2.1bar)
BLITZ 850cc injectors

Out of curiousity- how late does full boost kick in, and what sort of power/ torque are you making?

Full boost is around 4000 / 4250rpm mate, as for torque / bhp figures I have no idea... Had it on 3 rolling roads and soon as full boost comes in the graphs ether go mental up and down like a seismograph or just plummet to zero.
Bad RR operators are the cause not tying it down enough but they hate it when you tell them how to do there jobs so I've given up wasting money on them

nice!

whats 1/4s you run??

suprised your running 2bar on a sidemount, you run water/meth injection as well?

when you say full boost at 4-4.2k, what gear are we talking about here, lol.

all gears are going to see full boost at different rpm ranges.

great pics at the track by the way!

Yes running water / meth injection too Jim.

Should have stated that's in 3rd gear 1st and 2nd are over far to quick to notice when full boost is achieved really.

As for 1/4 miles... That was my first time ever on a strip. Did two runs to get over the nerves and get my bearings.
3rd run was first hard launch and a sheared nearside CV joint... So waiting on some ATS ones and try again next year.

where are you injecting, i cant see anything on your engine bay pics?
what manifold you running??

so you must have some times and terminals then?

i got the CRW axle cages, easier kit to fit and only slightly more expensive than the ATS ones which require completely dismantling the joint!

Injecting just after the intercooler mate the solenoid is mounted just under the offside inspection panel.
Running a stock rev 3 manifold with a custom 90degree flange to raise the turbo above the gearbox/clutch pipes.

Thanks guys

Yes they was took behind Doncaster dome.
No mate don't work there, you used to be able to get round the back as security was none existent back then.

The seats are a Japanese brand called "F1 spec" I bought them off gts Chris a long time ago. Fitment is very snug now I'm filling out a bit tho.
They are made for the small oriental frame.
Link below is the closest distributor.
