The casting does not take any power, it's the end plate, 5th gear cover. It was more the bits of 5th gear flying around that caused the problem!

Thanks All

Yeah i'm sure its probably more age/wear than power related, at the end of the day i'm really not running anything that silly power wise.

I really dont know anything about the box as it was inherited with the donor car. could still be original, who knows

Hopefully will have an update on it tomorrow :thumleft:

Think of it this way; at least it's another unknown variable taken out of the equation. :+:

Ever since the conversion i have never had "precise" gear changes. I thought this was down to the conversion and lived with it, but turns out it was down to a worn selector block.

Our best guess is that this had worn to the point of failure, as on inspection at fensport it was missing. This would mean that 5th was not disengaged, as i put it into 4th. 5th then lost the battle :eye:

So a good condition one sourced and installed, 5th transplanted over (apparently a pain to get my old one off as all puller holes had sheared in the failure! dont think we ever had a chance in the field!) new end plate etc, and everything is back up and running.

Gear selections are now much more precise, and car is back at home to keep working on the many other jobs ahead of Rockingham :thumleft:
