Re: Any MK1.5 owners???
i always wondered whats 1.5's 0-100kmh (0-62mph) time.
i am still not sure whether to supercharge my AGE, or get 3SGTE or 2ZZ swap.....

I'm a bit of a purist but if I was to do it then it would have to be a V6 to keep the NA vibe. Gotta love the cultured V6 howl too

Re: Any MK1.5 owners???
I agree, for me it has to be the 1mz-fe V6, retains the light weight but enough torque to put a constant smile on your face and an engine note to die for, it ticks every box for me as an Mr2 owner. My next V6 Mk1 will have the RX300 VVti engine, it's a torque monster, revs its boobs off and sounds like a true sportscar engine should.
For pure BHP and tunability though you can't beat the 3s-gte, you're basically building a Mk1 version of the Mk2 turbo but retaining the handling of the Mk1.
Both of the above are considerably quicker than the SC or 2zz which are done for other reasons really.
Since building the first 1.5 in Europe over a decade ago i've always fancied another, one day i definately will, they are fantastic weapons.

What would be the preferred revision 3STGE engine to use?

If you're going to fit a 3s-gte then a Rev3 onwards is what you want.

Re: Any MK1.5 owners???
Is that because of reliability and power?

Re: Any MK1.5 owners???
Basically no AFM on the Rev3, they are Map sensor driven, have less reliability issues than earlier engines and make 245bhp in stock form, they have a better turbo (Ct20b) which doesn't run out of puff over 5k rpm like the earlier engines do.
Better all round really, you can then easily hit 300bhp with very light tuning.
Be aware a Mk1 needs an outer CV/hub upgrade over 300bhp which is an extra cost some don't factor into their builds, stay below 300bhp though and it's fine on stock CVs/Hubs.

Would you be willing to share your engine mount designs?

Yep I've shared them from day 1 so that this can be done at home, I also make a jig that takes the pain out of the engine alignment.

How much does your jig cost? This has been a sticking point for me!
Is the MK1 better handling than the MK2?

There used to be a round robin, with the jig for the paid members of 2brutal, so once someone finished their mount welding, they shipped the jig to the next person on the list and so on, so effectively you only pay £40 shipping.
I'm not sure it the above continues?
Re: Any MK1.5 owners???
Have a look at the link in my sig for a vid of my V6.
Paul stay stock with the vvti it's a PITA otherwise, but I guess you already know that from my build thread.

Re: Any MK1.5 owners???
I hear you Chris, i'll definately be sticking with the stock engine setup. I drive an RX300 as a daily driver and the engine pulls that thing so strongly i just have to have that in a Mk1.

Yes.
Have always felt that the Mk 2 is too big & clumsy
That a proper sportscar should be small & nimble & the Mk1 fills that bill really well
Have never driven a Mk2 though
Will take up any offers

Re: Any MK1.5 owners???
I was passenger in my mate's G LTD a few years ago, the 173bhp version and it didn't feel anything special through the bends.
Mk1 handles like its on rails, didn't get that feeling with the Mk2. Felt a bit bulky and rolly.

Ahhh ! Your feelings about that experience are very much what I would expect Alex
