[Mk2] [Turbo] Double din head unit? Xtrons dvd,tv,satnav, blurtooth etc £275....

Post by Graeme Shaw »

Hi all

decided I need a new head unit and want to go back to double din.

Currently have a jvc with dvd, bluetooth etc and think its total junk a it keeps losing signal resetting etc even though I paid £600 for it!
I want a dvd/cd, satnav bluetooth device and have seen these:

http://www.xtrons.co.uk/GPS-car-dvd/7-D ... D717G.html

Looks awesome, but for £275!? Anyone had one?

I know they are chinese and then re branded, by x trons, meos etc

Ive had a good look around and can find reviews of meos but not x trons.

My only other option is a alpine, pioneer or kenwwod but your talking £500+

What do I do??

theres a reason the good brands are twice the price, you get what you pay for, the part that will be of the poorest quality is the part that matters most on a unit like this - the screen.

whats important is the sound....which on the ones i have had is very poor, got a lot worse when rigged up to amps

cannot be compared to alpine/pioneer

I've got the old version of that in the MR2. Don't think I paid as much as that for it though. Around £150 if I remember right.

To be fair to it, for what it cost, it's not a bad unit. The user interface is pretty shocking on mine but apparently it's got a lot better in the later units. It does what it says on the tin ie plays pretty much any format you can throw at it and will run sat nav too but there are no bells and whistles.

If you're an audiophile you'll rip it to pieces, but if you just want some noise in the car and a convenient sat nav it does everything you need.

Interesting article.

I too have been looking for a good 2 dinn unit and have found Eonon stock 3 different models with iPhone style scroll navigation and 3d icons etc.

https://www.eonon.com/Car-GPS-Navigatio ... S-DVD.html

Plus they are on Facebook with a good size community, but i have read a few threads about faulty products.

Although people aways complain when some things breaks, but you don't hear much when thing work fine. Bit of a gamble :-s

i have installed this for a friend in his Celica. It is £130 delivered on ebay.

Great system. Tested the phone calls, iphone sync and charge. Works perfectly.
