Battery terminal quick release.

Post by Boddney »

Hi,
I found this in my shed that I had from when I had a caravan.
Thought that it was a good idea to put if on my neg terminal on my battery as I'm fed up with doing it the spanner way every time I put Roxie to bed.
Do you think it will be ok from an amp point of view?

Should be fine but is there a reason you disconnect the battery all the time? There's not a lot of electrics on a mk1 anyway so unless you've either got a bad battery or a fault somewhere it should quite happily stand for months at a time without going flat.

I don't know really. When I first got her the old battery went flat and would'nt charge so I bought a new one. When I then started it the alt was over charging so I had to get a new and since then I have always disconnected it when I park it for a few weeks.

I disconnect mine. Brand new battery fully charged will go flat on my car in about a week. The radio and alarm draw a some current all the time.

I use an identical one on my MK1A. Quick release also left over from previous camper van. I sprayed it black & disconnect the battery every time I garage the car. I know someone who had an electrical fire in an old car in their garage & have always disconnected my battery since. Might be over cautious but it suits me.

Did you fit the 800A battery quick connector Bod ?

Any problems ?

Could do with something similar. Often find myself disconnecting
