Playstation network down (over 24hrs now)

Post by Razor04 »

It's been down for over 24hrs now, apparently it was attacked by that scum group of hackers called anonymous or something twatish like that.

No sign of it coming back on anytime soon.

The fundamental principle is still there though, charge free online gaming for all who purchase PS3. Who the f**k wants to buy a console / shell out £45 quid on a game then have to shell out another £35 quid to play it online! nah i'll leave that to the mugs thanks

I've never paid more than £26 for 13 months of XBL Gold for a damn good service :thumleft: I'd much rather pay for a great service than sit waiting for a crap free service to constantly update and install.

This isnt even a discussion its a fact that the PSN has been crap in the past few months not just the past few days.

11p a day to know I can go online when ever I want with all the features live has as standard isnt really much IMO.

And as has already been said. Nobody needs to pay the full price for Live each year.

Having said all that if my new job works out a PS3 will soon be filling the last shelf under my TV. Need to play GOW.

I don't think it'd be impossible to bring down / hack Xbox Live in the same way

Bearing in mind PSN isn't down because of any kind of DDOS attack from Anonymous, it's down because someone (probably from said group of angsty-teen-geeks) broke in and Sony took the PSN down because they have no idea how to patch the hole.

Very embarrassing for Sony really, and given that it's coinciding with XBL Nations free access, I don't think MS could've wished for better publicity in their dreams. PSN isn't a particularly good service anyway, but then XBL is practically flawless so it's a tad harsh to compare the two really.

they're apparently strengthening the network to prevent a repeat attack.
and yeah is sunny outside but it's the evenings and night-times that I like to play online, tis annoying as hell.

I've taken the opportunity to play through the black ops campaign as I never played it before just used the multiplayer, it's quite good actually :thumleft:

Wondered why an error message had come up saying that I had been signed out of the PS network. Doesn't bother me though as I never use it. Mostly use the PS3 to stream music etc.

Few stories about Steams integration to access PSN for Portal 2 "assisting" the current probs floating about, we'll never know the truth as Sony like to cover up everything up with lies and lawyers anyway.

But after the outcome of Sony vs Hotz and now the following saga of Sony vs Graf no-one will actually openly admit doing anything and annonymous's actions have simply given Sony a finger to wave at whenever something suspect happens or they need to do "maintinence"
