[Mk2] [Turbo] Drop link replacement

Post by andyg1978 »

Hi,

Last year i got an advisory that my nearside front roll bar drop link was worn. As its coming up to MOT time again want to replace this.
Turns out the guy I bought the car from already bought a pair of these but only fitted the offside one, and I have the nearside he didn't fit in my garage.

Thing is, the offside has been on the car now for about 18 months.
Am I best getting a new set (only £18 on ebay) and putting new ones on both sides?
Should I do the rear ones at the same time?
Should I do anything else at the same time, eg bushes?

Thanks

Andy

Changing the drop links is a 10 minute job....if they're not all corroded in place.

Give the car a good check over whilst it's on axel stands as well.

Just started replacing them now.

Have stopped a I have a quick question, do you need to compress the springs whilst you are doing this?

No

Just jack it up. Axel stands. Wheels off.

Get the xxxxx off.

When you put them on make sure you do them up tight.
