What's the best/biggest battery...?

Post by shabz »

What's the best and most reasonably priced battery you can fit in a mk2 rev3 mr2 turbo?

I'm gunna be installing an amp/components/sub setup at some point soon so it will need to have enough juice for that (nothing crazy- probs around 300wrms in total)

You don't want to fit a (much) bigger battery for that stuff as you'll just overload your alternator trying to charge it, unless you intend on running your ICE with the engine switched off? In which case a split charging relay and a separate leisure battery would be the way to go (not a car battery).

If you have access to a halfords trade card then just get one from there, you get big discounts on batteries. Bought a halfords brand one the other week that should have been £84 and the discounted price was £52.

I would recommend the optima yellow top which is what I have in mine and The Big 3 which is putting bigger cable (0gauge preferably) from the alternator to the battery (leaving the original wiring as well) from the engine to earth and from the battery to the body.

Get the car battery from a Toyota Dealer.
Better price and Warranty than Halfords etc, and you know it will fit!

Varta are top quality batteries that are fitted to many new high end cars. They have a 3 yr warranty but they really are good batteries
