[Mk2] [Turbo] Blow-by issue or normal?

Post by MikeMr2 »

Hi guys, just installed my 'new' gen 2 3SGTE. Runs very nice and smooth, and can't wait to drive it. But when i pull off the oil cap with the engine running, the engine will drop lower RPM...is this normal for a gen2?
I installed an HKS blowoff, Apexi air intake, 3 inch downpipe+ exhaust, Xs power Intercooler.

Thanks for the help! :thumleft:

Hmm, dont know for sure as i dont have much experience with the rev1/2 but double check that all your pcv hoses are free from any blockages. I guess that if there blocked then the extra crankcase pressure pushing on the backs of the pistons could cause the ECU to try and increase the revs to compensate ??

It's normal for rev 1/2 cars, I'd guess due to the AFM?

Definitely normal - a slight amount of throttle should completely remove the blow-by through the cap. By ~1200rpm mine's neither sucking or blowing. (I know for sure my compression is fine and I'm not burning oil).
