Yeah they're pretty cool. 3D does work well but can give you a headache. Some photos look great in 3D.....some of my mates porn looks great on it!

I cant help but think that £200ish is waaaaaay too expensive for a small hand held machine. Especially when Wii's, Xbox's and PS3's are all around the same price.

To put the price into context, when the original DS was released it was just £99.

How long ago was that though?

I've seen it and suspect it will make me fairly travel sick!

To compare it to PS3/Xbox is missing the point. It's a small portable gaming console, that's it's USP. That means kids can play it in cars, on holiday and without the need for a TV. Me, I take it on train journeys to pass the time (though my new iphone will no doubt compete in the future with angry birds!)

I bought the Gameboy SP when it first came out solely to play either during the adverts on TV or when a game was loading or the cutscenes were running during a game, just to pass that small section of time

(*I will add that I lived on my own then  )

For me, handhelds are what you use when you cant play proper computer games and as such, should be priced to reflect that.

You're thinking of it as inferior. Which it's not, it's just aimed at a different market segment.

It is really isnt it?

The selection of games is smaller, the graphics are inferior, the controls are also inferior. I had a crack on a PSP which surely has more games and more quality yet even that I found inferior.

How can it be the same quality that size though?
It's not really needed anyway, most of the games are just fine!

But thats exactly it, being a hand held it will always be inferior to a full size TV based console. So how comes it costs as much and in some cases, more?

Duh, because it's portable perhaps??

I don't know if this is true, but is everything electronic made smaller more expensive?

Very possibly the best explanation but an Ipod Nano is substantially cheaper than an Ipod Classic?

Tried one of these at work the other day (one of the high level managers has bought it) and i was bloody impressed with augmented (sp) reality technology of it.

Placed a card on the table.. took aint at it and then let it scan position and distance etc then it came to life and you had to shoot targets from different angles.. 8)

Also tried ridge racer on it and it has to be said that i would get a migrane quite quickly if i had played it for a few min.

it gave me a headache for the first few hours, but after a bit you get used to it and it doesnt affect me now. you can also calibrate the 3d for your eyes in the settings
