[Mk2] [Generic] Alternatives to KEI force 10 rims ?

Post by Maverick9999 »

Hi there,

I've been looking around for what rims I'd like to stick on my MR2 turbo and the best I've seen have been the KEI FORCE 10 17inch rims. This is the look I'd like to go for having seen an mr2 on pistonheads which was shod in them.

http://www.rimstyle.com/products/detail ... 100-E42l42

I am finding it hard to source the rims and I was wondering whether you guys who are into these things knew of any alternatives which would look the same but may be a little cheaper/ better? Or are the KEI's the ones to go for?

More info on what tyres to select will follow in another thread :)

Thanks in advance

I'm actually looking for more of a multi spoke design, hence the force 10 spokes. What tyres have you got on them and do you use lowered springs?

They're 17 x 7.5 all round and ET40 or 45 I think. They fit over lowered springs fine but will struggle with certain coilovers and big brakes. However they are super light compared to my Compomotives that I now have, think they have hollow spokes.

They were running on T1R's but these will be going on my new wheels, but the other tyres are all T1R's except one.

@Bambam22686: excuse my ignorance, but what are 7j's?

@Pnicho: What do you mean by fitting OVER lowered springs? Is there a chance of them fouling otherwise? Did you require spacers?

no worries mate all rims are 7inch wide no issues as im running coilovers just used the spacers to fill the arches not couse they were failing on anything :thumleft:

Fitting over means that they wont foul lowered standard springs - you would need spacers to make them fit over coilovers.

you might want to think about getting a staggered set up
I.e wider wheels on the rear otherwise if you get 7j wide all round
your rear wheels will be sunk in the arches and look pants.

the standard mr2 wheels are staggered wider at the rear

you'll need to understand about wheel offset's as well, is very important.
some Kei wheels n Tyres for sale on here:

Razor, can I not just get spaces on the rear to give me the offset and use 7j's all the way around? Or is that what you meant by staggered?

yeah can use spacers to get the same effect, but they cost a bit for a decent set of hubcentric spacers, you could just put the money into buying staggered wheels instead.

staggered means different width wheels front and rear
ie 7j (7inch wide) front
8j (8 inch wide) rear

comprende?

Surprisingly I've got a set of 7/8's and they use exactly the same tyre size as the 7.5's that I have as well.

It all depends what the guy is after and what's available at the time, he could be waiting a long time for the right staggered setup for his car, I just got very lucky with mine.

The Kei Force 10's are great for the MR2, I have 18's on mine with 30mm spacers on the rear.
Should be some 17's knocking about, have you checked Ebay?

yep force 10 alloys, in pretty good nick. I was going to chuck em on ebay but i imagine it'd be better to stick em up on Imoc :)

Was wondering whether one of you could help me. I've found a set of force 10's on ebay but they're 17x7. They're not from an MR2 and I need to check what the PCD is on the MR2? Do the studs use the smaller diameter PCD on the rim or the larger diameter.

I ask cos KEI apparently do two types of 17inchers:

17 x 7 - 5 x 100/114.3
17 x 7 - 5 x 110/114.3

Need to know if you used the inner stud pattern (which is either 100 or 110 in which case I have to investigate further) or if you used the outer one (114.3, in which case it won't matter).

Any help would be welcome...
