[Mk2] [NA] Front exhaust section fitment question

I have a Rev 1 1990 N/A which is in dire need of a new o2 sensor, however the previous owner welded the o2 sensor in place and cut the bolts out so I also need a new front section of the exhaust.

The earliest parts i can find are for cars built dec 91 onwards

Does anyone know if these parts will fit a car built in 1990 with the 3SGE engine. From what I can find for the exhaust section, rev 1 and 2 with the 3sge engine are the same thats 1989 to 1994 then rev 3 onwards is different. The o2 sensor has me baffled, some say they're the same from 89 to 00 others break it down into years like the exhausts above. Camskill list one from 1989 to dec 1991 which my car falls into nicely but is £175 shipped.

you can drill another hole and weld one in again.... u can get them from panks autoparts, unipart etc (look up autofactors in ya yellow book) for bout 30 quid. if u want 2 change pipe call around the breakers yards! again I got 1 for 20 notes. I will look in my workshop and see if I have a lamber, only want a tenna if I still have any left!

why don't look at getting a aftermarket stainless 3"exhaust? seems lika good excuse to upgrade!

I ended up risking the flexi section i listed in the OP I have removed the old one and they match so thats one small victory. I also found my OEM O2 sensor part number on www.toyodiy.com (very handy site found the link on here ) I then cross referenced that part number on a page i cannot find now. The link is on imoc somewhere. Anyway the result was me finding my hopefully correct O2 sensor DOX 0208 which I now have.

Anyway went to remove the exhaust today and noticed a coolant leak. Fairly slow when the car is cold and the system is sealed however when I remove the filler cap the flow rate picks up. Its not exactly running out of it but its dripping at about 1 drip every second or 2 its dripping from the rim around the sump. I cannot locate the source either. I have been on here researching and 3 causes spring up
cracked block (hope its not this)
pipe from hell (dont think its this see photo I have them exposed and they're dry)
water pump (this is where my money lies)
I cant see into the area the leak seems to be coming from cos it is so cluttered. From what I know this area left of the filter and under the thermostat housing is the water pump. I only did a total flush and thermostat replacement last week. The area around the thermostat housing is dry so Im pretty sure Its not leaking from there.
Can anyone verify:
1 The pipes from hell are those that are coming off the oil filter area and bending 90 degrees up

2 The area I described above contains the water pump.

The car could do with a timing belt change I have read up on the procedure and think i could manage it. Im not sure how much more is involved in getting to the water pump I know they're normally done together so hopefully not much. Can anyone shed any light on this for me If they know of a walk through article for this such as those in the KB that'd be great. The BGB is a bit short on detail also calls for exhaust cam sprocket to be removed Id have thought that was a bit high up to be in the way. Anyway any help is appreciated.

get a garage to diagnose it! u need her in the air. may be head gasket....don't worry about your belt yet it is a non interference engine. get that leak sorted as a matter of urgency. what colour is your coolant?

The coolant I flushed out was rusty very very rusty in colour. I ran a hose through it for about an hour and it still wouldnt run clear. So i removed the thermostat filled it with water ran it round the block a few times and drained it again. It ran rusty again so i kept this up all day. Finally got it running somewhat clear. I filled it with a 50/50 coolant and thought i was done. All my flushing probably upset a weakness in the system and caused this leak.

better you found it now...... check the pipe at back of block coming of the silver hard pipe.... bet it is jammed solid to.... all these engines do this

When I had this it was that I hadn't quite nipped the thermostat housing up enough so it was leaking when it was hot. When the engine was running from cold to warmup it was fine, but it would leak from there when you stopped once the car had got hot.

Mine seemed dry to the touch as well because it leaks down the block & water pump when it's not tight enough.

Ok well I'm glad to report the front section I got fits nicely so for anyone with a rev 1 built in 1990 the front exhaust section listed 91-94 does fit. As for the O2 sensor it has completely transformed my car. I have my MR2 6 years now and since I got it, it has always hesitated on small throttle openings giving a very annoying jerky ride and drank fuel at an alarming rate. I have tried many fixes over the years none of them worked. Even tried a generic O2 sensor which done nothing. It now picks up the throttle nice and smoothly no hesitation or jerkiness. For anyone experiencing these symptoms if you have tried the usual fixes and they have not worked do yourself a favour and stick in a new o2 sensor. From sparkplugs.co.uk I got an OEM spec denso sensor with the correct connector and proper plate and gasket for £50 simply bolt on plug in and your done. I only done it today so have brimmed the tank and will see how far I get. Hopefully I beat the 250 miles per tank I've been getting all these years.

@ swaggansway not sure which pipe your referring to. Is it on the intake or exhaust side of the engine? The pic above is of the exhaust side without the manifold fitted.

@ toxo before I put the manifold back on I gave the thermostat housing nuts another little nip while I had good access. I also added a bottle of radweld for good measure in the hope it'll do some good cos I'm low on cash and time for the next month so prob won't get to investigate this properly. The good news is the leak seems to have stopped. The bad news is I don't know if it was nipping the nuts or the radweld but for now I have a car that's running well and has no pools underneath it so I'll call it a good days work and start saving for the timing belt replacement and new water pump. also check your engin block plugs. when the block pressures up they can be pushed out!
i seriousley doubt this is your problem but it does sometimes happen..... 3 of my blocks have shot one out before, but i do seriousley ragg my cars around the track.

it is more common that your pressure cap will go first but if your water system has been abused......

You've got me worried about this radweld xxxx i put in. Maybe ill flush it out tomorrow and prey the leak stays gone.
I've never really gotten a good look at the intake side of the engine before. Never had it out of the car and its a b1tch to see anything from underneath. Ill have a look tomorrow see if I can spot anything out of the ordinary.

Gotcha will do some research. In the meantime I managed to find the cross reference page for denso O2 sensors in case anyone needs it in the future. My Toyota part number is 89465-19415 which is DOX-0208 and works a treat see below for the list of toyota part numbers against Denso part numbers full list available @
