MOT fail

Post by Gonzo12c »

Hi folks first thing to cure on the Mr2 is the MOT is up at the end of the month and had a pre test to see what it needs and here is the results.

Fail on following

parking brake efficiency below
front sidelight out
horn not working
rear tyre
exhaust emission fail
exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits

Ok so not too bad all in but i could do with some help on the parking brake and exhaust faults.

The exhaust is aftermarket and sounds like its straight through could this be causing the failure?

Also where is the adjustment on the handbrake?

Cheers folks

Regarding handbrake:

Regarding emissions:

Main Cat condition, exhaust blows, or knackered sensors (MAF or lamda) are common causes... and if you're unlucky oil vapour in the exaust due to excessive blow by (knackered piston rings). Watch that oil consumption in any case.
