Saw an ST205 Celica in the course of a 600 bhp build and the turbo sat on top of a tubular manifold, manifold looked good, but it was new.
Mine will be a more modest 400-450bhp.
And I, hopefully a happy man.

I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

All pointing to Jim?
Hello Jim
Looking at alternatives of upper and lower mounting turbos
and brands of said.
I gather your turbo is upper mounted?
Mine needs to be low mounted for the chargecooler.

Re: [All] [Turbo] Full Race
I made my own from a cheap ebay one.
It still hasn't cracked. The pics below are of the 'placeholder' cheap wastegate I was using until I got the current turbosmart. It should be noted that the cheap wastegate NEVER let me down.
It started like this (After I welded on a new flange)
Then to this
The red arrows in the diagram below show the bit I had to physically make in order to make the 60mm wastegate fit - it was originally designed for a 40 something mm wastegate which I decided would be too small (You can see it the way it used to be in the pictures above). You would not believe how long it took to get the angles right on that damn thing. More than one time I was for throwing the lot in the skip and forgetting about it..
Few more views of the handywork - not too shabby if I do say so myself!
A shot of the huge ass wastegate
And finally, a couple of shots of the angle I needed to weld the wastegate on at
few pictures of the finished article (Red lines show areas that I had to make)
some slight porting was required to match the gasket

I agree with mark about the cheap wastegates , i always thort they were garbage like most of the cheap ebay stuff.
But after speaking to a technical writter for a well known magazine the other day, he exsplained the cheap ebay wastegates have got so much better over the years they are even using the same internal parts as tial! something to think about
