Looks like a respray to me though (a VERY good & thorough one though).
Doesn't look like a respray to me, the engine bay is the same colour.

As it happens, it turned out to be the factory colour.
Although how for a UK car I'll never know!

Putting your Frame number into the Toyota EPC shows it was actually built in March 1998
