Well done Patrick on an Awesome time! For those who did not know Patrick with only 260bhp beat everyone except two 600+ BHP cars which is amazing. Proves if you can drive and set up your car you don't need out and out power. Very impressed indeed. Hope to see you at a few more rounds :D

Hi All,

We had a great day with the Sprint Series at Rockingham - things have definitely moved on since the last time we attended in 2008, both in terms of the organisation and the standard of cars and drivers. I was pleased to be able to introduce the MR2 Roadster to the series, and also to get a naturally aspirated car on the podium for a change! I can't make the next round as it clashes with the Snetterton round of the MR2 Championship but I'll try and come back later in the year and see if I can persuade a few friends along as well - my car is one of five built to a similar specification.

Here's a link to my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9hoGgnN9HM

Apologies for the camera angle - would have been perfect if we'd removed the rear view mirror!

If anyone is interested, I've also uploaded some datalogs from my car for you to have a look at:

http://www.roguemotorsport.com/misc/datalogs.zip

You'll need to download and install Race Technology's analysis software:

http://www.race-technology.com/upload/p ... p_7090.exe

But you'll end up with information that looks something like this:

I've included two runs - PATRICK0.RUN is an attempt I made with the rear wing removed and PATRICK2.RUN has it back in place.

Great Job Patrick :)

You forgot to mention that you don't recommend running at high speed round a concrete walled banked oval with no rear wing :)

There were 11 Alfa Romeos as well. Just filling up the spaces I guess, but I'm not sure why the Cosworth got listed on the official results.

Was the route just a circuit then? Just going from the map you've shown on your datalogger Patrick.

We ran around the whole oval but they used cones ect to add chicanes, corners and things to spice it up.
Here's my on board footage from the weekend.

This was because he was in Class X, this is for non toyota cars to compete against each other, he comes to most of the events with a few Westfields but was on his own for this one. The Alfas always come to Rockingham only and have a battle between themselves

On board videos from our car are now online

TSS

Post by aw11rally »

Cogboy and I have had a few brief discusions about using our rally car in the TSS. I've got a few questions.

1. Can two drivers share one car?
2. Car is a mk1 mr2 with ITBs on a 4age, 6 speed box, big brakes and coilovers. Would we be class D pro?
3. If D pro can R888s be used?
4. What else is running in D pro?

Yes to 1, 2 and 3. This season we didn't have any Class D entrants at the first round. Usually the car to beat is Dave Brooks in his 4AGE powered KP70 Starlet although I believe he is sitting out this season to give the car an overhaul plus there's usually 1 or 2 AW11s and/or AE92 Corollas.

Would be good to see you there though, I'm sure you'll be giving us a run for our money, who know we might even be able to keep up with Neil if he's still getting used to his car.

I'd hope it would be as fast as a standard (ish) mk2 turbo or st165/185. I just think grip would be a problem due to cold R888s, they may not be the best tyres for short sprints. Are moulded slicks allowed in pro class? Dunlop Rally slicks for example.

Keeping up with Neil would be a good target to aim for. I really do think he's going to have traction problems, I've got a feeling he'll be needing 255 rears rather than 195s. Should be great fun to watch.

'E' Marked road tyres are a requirement for all classes. Virtually everyone in the pro classes runs R888s or similar so you won't be at any disadvantage with them.

That's a shame, dunlop moulded slicks are so much better, and cheaper since Toyo put the prices up!

We've got to a point that now the car is working well mechanically we are far exceeding what the R888s offer. Also they only last about 100miled on the rear!

well, you dont have anything to worry about for this round as the car definately wont be ready. I am hoping to make it down in the mk2 turbo i took as PX against the M3, and run it in A3 street, but it has a stupidly loud exhaust so not sure it will pass the noise regs.

Wheel wise i am now at the point of ordering new wheels for the rear.

I will be converting to mk2 hubs so i can run complete mk2 driveshafts so that should rule out those snapping, which means a new set of 5 stud wheels are required for the rear. Figure if i order 4 then i can have 2 sets of matching wheels. (road / track)

Just need to finalise plans for offset and width!
