Drivers Dream Day - A few super cars

Post by cantfindausername »

On sunday I went to the Prodrive Test Track for a "Best of the Best" Drivers day.

Had quite possibly the best day of my life so far! Here is a set of videos from the day.

Lamborghini Gallardo : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwD5Lh3B8bg

Ferrari F430 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQcdLGdR5Wg

Porsche 911 Turbo : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujGjV957tLs

Aston Martin Vantage : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrpDDKdtBso

Enjoy!

haha I felt very lucky that day. Even got a passenger ride with a test driver in a Nissan GTR... **** me that thing is impressive. Shouldn't be able to do what it does.

If you see the chicane in the video... note the speed, then think of doing that at 65 in the GTR.

Watched both the lambo and F430 and having been in a F430 before as a passenger i love the noise of it!

Also when he asked you at the end what car you drive.. you said a TDI which he was half expecting then you mentioned the 500bhp MR2 and he was like 'Ohhh REALLY?' i noticed after that he was giving you a lot less instruction!

A mate of mine took delivery of a brand new GTR at the end of May and i cant wait from him to come down here from Dundee with it. He has promised me the keys! 8)

EDIT
Just watched the 911 turbo - seems a beast but so far the fezza seems the most fun.

Edit x 2

All watched.. i liked the Fezza then the Lambo and then the porka and then the Aston. :thumleft:

How much did all that cost if you dont mind me asking?

I was hoping for more from the porsche. I think cos it was running in full auto mode there was some lag. Funny comment from the instructor, he was really bigging it up saying that the kickdown when you come out of corners is "something else", once when got back he said I never really got to experience it cos I was taking my lines well and carrying too much speed through the corners for it to drop 2 gears

ha.. the dufus. I did notice the lag from the point you put your foot down to the power coming in as i was expecting it to be more of a beast than that.

Man.. i cant wait to drive the GTR now!

Cost of the event was £290, then 60 for vids, and 25 for pics. :thumleft:

So it was you making all the noise...! Prodrive's test circuit is right next to us - you probably drove past our door to get there:

Looks like a lot of fun. 8) I drove the 4x4 circuit there as a Birthday treat a few years ago as well.

Prodrive have mothballed the site now, but just before they did we were considering moving into the workshops that were occupied by Marcos before they went bust. The facilities were superb and we'd have had access to Prodrive's in-house fabrication and testing facilities, not to mention the convenience of the on site fuel station and jet wash.

Shame they didn't get into Formula 1... :(

having driven the v8 vantage, your video is so different to my experience. the v8 noise doesnt come through at all in the vid and it seems really slow...

the fezza is the best car there though and the lambo is a bit of a let down, porka is only let down by the fact its a full auto as you say really.
