Santa Pod with results...

Post by Bone »

My first go up the strip. Pretty happy with the results. With a bit of practice I should be able to knock it sown a bit :thumleft:

any idea what power you are making mate?

SLOW! 13.6 isn't slow mate. I am probably running between 270 and 300 bhp.

Thats not bad. Stock rev3 can supposedly do 13.6 but most of it is down to how well you get off the line. So, if you had better tyres and more practise, a 270-300 hp rev3 will have potential for faster, perhaps 13 dead?

Agreed. I had a 13.1 with 280bhp at York Raceway. It's all about the launch.

Ive run at the pod b4 and the traction was rubbish.....its was january though :D

Its true its all down to the launch which is not to bad with the standard turbo and you dont have to dump the cluch much over 3k

I got a 13.5 in my Rev2 (many moons ago) running just a mongoose exhaust, 1bar boost and no airfilter. :thumleft:

9 seconds to get it off the line?

I seem to remember you having trouble even moving it, let alone launching it ;)

Thats impressive for standard, it almost seems pointless in modding the car at then as many modded 2's dont do much under that :thumleft:

Having dragged a CT20 around 40 times, I can confidently say that even with some rubbish Nankangs that it's a doddle to launch. DONT dip the clutch, you WILL get wheelspin. You have to slipclutch the MR2 and you get some ridiculously quick 60foots which is where it counts. Ok, so it takes a bit more beef off the clutch but it's the way to do it for sure.

I've got a much larger turbo now running quite a bit more power and it requires absolutely perfect input otherwise you get massive bog down or an insane amount of wheelspin. I think the best turbo for dragging would be a GT2860RS or similar. Very wide torque curve and great spoolup. :thumleft:
