How much for new gearbox and fitting?

Post by samu23 »

Gearbox just failed on me, got a rev 1 tubby. How much should i expect to pay for a gearbox and then how much would it cost to fit?

On another note, its in a pay to park space atm, is there a towing point on the mk2 mr2?

Cheers

Depends on what condition box you are after. I just sold a Rev 3 box that had been stripped and inspected, worn parts replaced etc (which cost £175 to do) for £375.
A box off of a car that has had no work done to it, i personally would not pay more than £100-£150 depending on mileage etc.

Have a word with Nathan at Century Motorsport. He did mine, highly recommended. Cost will be have to be discussed with him though as i had other works done at the same time.

i guess it will be same as a clutch change job

if that helps,

i think that sit at anything between 200 to 300
if you need to change clutch may be the good time to do it

If you put in a rev2 box which has lsd then you'll need to change the shafts, possibly hubs, but would be a good upgrade tho.

Am in Sussex too but changing gearboxes on the drive on someone elses car isnt one of them jobs I would do I'm afraid.

I would defo be buying a new clutch while the box was out tho.

Ok some good news, its just the cable between the gear lever and the box has snapped, trying to source a new one.

Should be alot cheaper than a whole new box!

Matey, I have a set of gear cables and in hailsham.

If you want them today, £10 and you can collect !
