Beautiful Zircon K Plate

Post by matt_mr2t »

With a beautiful driver! Seen it quite a few times parked up at Fitness First Basildon. Today I saw the owner go to the car, my eyes nearly popped out of my head, a tubby, in stunning condition owned by a lovely lady. It's like all my dreams have become real :) On the other hand, i was sad i didn't still have mine to break the ice :(

Its not creepy in the slightlest. Its called real life interaction, not that difficult at all.

I personally think walking up to a girl in a car park is unfairly putting her in a position she may be uncomfortable with. A car park isn't a place of socialisation, it's a place to park your car. You don't go to a car park to socialise unless it's a pre-arranged event, such as the meets we used to have at Bluwater. In that situation I would have happily chatted to her.

yeah I dont think "what do you think of that stupid hollywood style sign on the A127 for Basildon" is a good ice-breaker either
My girl is a MK1(b) Sunroof Model 1.6L

i walked up to a lady in the services of the m1, because she was driving an alpine white 205 gti, ended up sitting down having a coffee and it was a good half an hour just chatting crap.

i see her in the car club ive signed up to and at fcs every year since, was a lovely example and i wished it was mine.

oh and i was in a camper van so it dont matter what your driving really :thumleft:

Hahahaa, I saw that sign for the first time the other day despite being in Bas Vegas at least twice a week, I nearly crashed laughing

Loudandproud - if you have the front for it, go for it. I guess I think other people would react the way I would, uncomfortably, in that situation.

Perhaps you're looking at it the wrong way.. You could meerly have engauged a converstation. For instance

Walk up say..

You.... "Hello" (fantastic way to start a convo.)

You "Just wanted a closer look at your MR2 as i used to have one and really like them. Yours is a very nice example"

Her "Oh really well thank you very much" (this response will tell you alot about wether she is interested in continuing the conversation)

 Seriously why does it always have to be leading somewhere.. If you don't put any pressure on the situation then you can have a nice chat or simply a passing compliment..

Some people just dont like social interractions in non social situations. For example, if I am in a bar, or any where acceptable as a social place, I will talk to any one and am glad if some one talks to me.

However, a guy once came up to me in Asda car park to talk to me about the MR2 and I just thought the whole thing was wierd, it was about nothing other than the car, I didnt think he was batting for the other team, but I just thought "this is a car park, not a car show, I just want to get my shopping"

Same in the gym (London branch, not where I saw this girl in the 2), some of the regulars there have noticed I have lost a lot of weight and they talk to me about it. While I'll happily answer their questions, I dont go there for conversations or to make friends.

Sadly none of the ridiculously hot women there have said anything #-o
And there is something wrong IMO with a naked man in a changing room engaging in conversation with a stranger.

One of the biggest off limit places for me is the train. Unless it's a late night drunk train, you just dont talk to strangers on the train.

Matt,

I am female and if a man came up to me in a car park and started chatting to me about the MR2, I would ask a few questions to see if he seemed genuine enough (e.g what was his MR2 like, what does he drive now and why). If he appeared non threatening and genuinely interested in the car, I would chat quite happily. I wouldn't give away anything personal about myself unless I was single and fancied him (in which case I may offer to take him for a spin and then take him back to my cave and handcuff him to keep him  ). Otherwise I would keep it very level.

And I am a complete wuss.......

And have never been 'spotted' on this site or the Mk1 site. :(

Would you go up to a guy in a car park to talk to him about his car?

If it was a Mk1 - yes, but not a MK2. I have nothing to usefully say to them, all I could say was "That's red [or whatever colour]". I cannot even tell what Rev it is.

And the MK1's are rarer....... :-k

And you wouldnt feel a bit creepy/geeky just talking to a complete stranger?

Perhaps I just give other people more respect than they need :-k

I am normally far too shy to talk to strangers but if it was about something quite specific (the MK1) then I would give it a shot. I have one as I love it and always nice to meet someone who loves them too.

As I said, I wouldn't talk to a MK2 stranger in car park unless they spoke first. You lot use language I don't understand (Boost, rev4 lights on a rev1, mongoose etc etc) 8-[

And I am a bit of a geek anyway....

Then there's the danger you go up to some one knowing waaaaay more than they do. Some people just have a car, any old car for what ever reason rather than being an enthusiast.

They guy who sits next to me at work had a mk1. I've tried engaging in conversation with him about it, but other than the colour, year and engine size, he couldnt really say any more. Met quite a few people like that.

My brother spent £13k on an X-Type Jag and phones me up asking what size tyres he has
