Well you could take the strips out and fill where they were or fill over them.
Filling over them would cost less as less filler would be used but im not sure how much this would cost.
I would think it would be fairly expensive to do as its the whole car would need spraying and blending virtually.
It does look good mind.

i dont think i could fill over them unless i sanded them back because they are reaised from the car and if i removed them and filled with filler wouldnt there be the risk of it cracking out after painting? im talking about the doors alone here because i am fitting a bodykit so there are arent any on the bumpers anyway.

ive just had it done on my car and its not a simple job as there is alot to think about. you dont want to do a cheap job of it as it wont last. if you just fill it up with bog its likely to crack over time or be wavey and not flat.
to do my car the garrage fabricated metal plates that were wleded in place of the strips. then a very thin layer of bog is applied over the plates. this avoids cracking as there is not much filler in the whole.
other things to think about are removing the bumpers etc. if you smooth of the rear strip the bumper can't be removed and the same with the front bumper. again if you have a fiberglass body kit that can also alter things as depending on how you do it you may not have a swage line anywere arround the car meaning that the rear bumper could be joined to the front bumper with no gaps or room for chassy flex.
be warned this is not a job for a bog standard garrage as theyll just do what you ask and not think of the cosequences or better ways arround problems. go to a specialist and a good metal fabricator and youll have a good job. personally i wasnt keen on the strips as mine looked tatty but its not a simple thing to do as you might aswell re paint the whole car and also make sure your not going to change your mind about the bumpers that are on the car etc as you wont be able to change them.

i'm still unsure about this though because even if i welded a strip in there and fillered over it surely the filler still has the risk of cracking when the door is slammed?

if you weld the plate the bog is verry thin so wont crack. its just like filling in a dent and you end up with very little filler on the door. if you do it this way you wont need to worry about cracking.
