I use fully syn 15w 50. Thats the Mobil 1 stuff. Its quite pricey but im told its a good oil. I did use 5w 40 but my engine has seen over 100k so i opt for a slightly thicker oil.

+1 for the Pro-s 5w40. My car has been run on it for the past 30,000 miles and is silky smooth.

Surely a 50w oil is far too thick for these engines? the sticker in the engine compartment specifies 5w-30 from the factory.

Another one for 10w40 semi-synthetic (I use castrol magnatec) -had this in my gen 2 3SGE, my gen 4 3SGE, my gen 3 3SGTE and now my 2JZGTE. Also used it in my civic years ago. Good enough oil for the price and availability -but I do do at least 2 changes a year.

My advice would be to ask the expert.

Opie oils is a trader on here : http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... 4367c01457

And they do awesome deals for members :thumleft:

Drop them a PM or email with your car spec, and what you use it for and they'll help you chose the perfect oil :thumleft:

This man speaketh the truth ^^^^ :)

Fully synthetic, ester based Silkolene 10/40 for me. Oil is the engines life blood, scrimping on it is a bad move in my opinion.
