[Mk2 NA] Squeeking in gear, low revs, when cold

I've had a bit of an intermittent squeek occuring when the car is cold.

It basically happens when the car is in gear, lowish rpm, when I change throttle position or drive over bumps.

If I stick it in neutral I can rev the car and back off etc. with no squeek at all.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? The car goes fine other than that.

Did you slove the problem of intermittent squeek, I have the same fault on 98 mk2 tbar

i do have the same problem but i am not sure if it is from my brake or gearbox

Solved squeak at last.... broken spot weld inside petrol tank causing baffle plate to rub against vent pipe when tank above half full, hope this helps find problem.

OMG - how the hell did you find that?!

Squeak was load on / off associated noise, thought it was clutch area, replaced all components here, replaced exhaust gasket and springs, greased all suspension points, replaced engine mounts, bloody squeak still there....
wasn't until this point I thought what else moves... Fluid, started with empty tank of petrol, rocked car, no squeak, tried half tank of fuel, heard squeak again, full tank ... loud squeak again, removed tank and sorted problem

I forgot all about this post as it went so long without any replies! Thanks for your input. My squeek did go away for about 2 months, but has come back again. I'm pretty sure mine is worse with a near full tank too...
