was looking at buying this but i'm still pretty unsure how the gauges hook up, also, i've been told that on a rev2 this is a pain in the ass???
can anybody give me clearer instructions on how to fit the gauges to it???
thanks in advance,Ryan

who ever told you it was a mission was talking rubbish lol it takes no time at all, dont bother with the sandwich plate there a nightmare if they start to leak, and imo dont giv an accurate enough reading.
this is what you nead screw it into were the stock sensor is on the side of the head near the dizzy oem sensor into that with the aftermarket one, job done

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
i put my sensor where the standard one went & got rid of standard one,in doing so i no longer have an oil light but the standard light when they come on its normally already to late & as your running a pressure gauge anyway its far better i also run oil temp gauge
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
true i agree theres not rearly any nead for the standard sensor

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
i'd much rather have the gauges than the oil light lol, so how's it done then???
i'm fairly handy, i just don't know enough about this particular subject

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
buy the fitting i posted, if you want to keep the std oil pressure light then you will need to fit that to the head that will take both the guage sender and the stock switch.
the stock sensor is on the sde of the head.
follow the top coolant hose till it gets to the engine. then look just above the water elbow and youll see a fitting with a single wire just on the end of the head next to the coolant outlet, thats the oil pressure switc. 27mm socket required for removal,27mm Diesel Injector socket is ideal, as i said before this is the best place for it as if you start losing pressure the head will be the first place affected as it's furthest away from the pump

Ah nice, yeah I don't mind doing away with the stock oil light, so if I buy a pressure gauge it'll come with the sender?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
Hang on, so if I do away with the stock oil light, do I need to buy that thing off ebay??
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
lol now im confused
check to see if the gauge comes with the sensor as not all do iv recently bought the r spec stepper guage it came with the sensor.
if you dont want to do away with the standard sensor you DO nead that line, if you want to keep you standard sensor then you DONT nead the line
as i said irl post up a how to with pics tamuro

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
Most gauge kits come with the sensors, the sensor that came with my apexi gauge was a denso sensor with 3wires so you would not be able to use a standard sensor as for oil temp that would be a different gauge & sensor, the sensor for this on mine goes through the sump plug & into the sump

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
Buy gauge.
Ask yourself....does it come with sensor?
Answer yes, don't buy anything. Replace stock sensor with gauge sensor.
Answer no, buy aftermarket sensor.
Want to keep stock oil light?
Yes, buy that fitting listed from ebay
No, buy nothing (except gauge)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
So could I run a temp and a pressure gauge? And I providing I buy gauges with sensors I can just connect them to where the stock sensor is?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
this is how i originally had my oil pressure sensor connected to run both sensors later on i just put the gauge sensor straight in the head
this is where i put my gauges
from left to right fuel pressure, oil pressure oil temp, air/fuel ratio & boost controller where clock used to be

here is were the stock sensor is located its the one with the yellow wire comin out of it buddy just unplug the standard one and tuck it out the way, just incase if when you come to selll the car you no were it is to pop back in, then you can take your gauges out and revert back to stock i do this on all my cars

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil Pressure/temp
You don't. You take temp from somewhere else, as Gav suggested you can fit a sensor in place of the sump plug.
