[Mk2] [Turbo] Departure 2 Repair

Post by megatart »

Hi. My Departure II exhaust is seriously knackered now. Cracks all round the Y split, and blowing flexi. Just wondering if anyone else has tried repairing them- ie- removing the whole mid section( backboxes to downpipe), and replacing with stainless steel to replace the rubbish rotting mild steel. Was considering asking one of the powerflow garages to do the work as i know they have 3" and 4" pipe. Anyone else bothered doing this? And would stainless effect the sound much??

I've had all of the mild replaced with stainless on mine, 3" all the way back if I remember right. It did cost a fair bit, £400. This did include new stainless perf tube and baffles repacked tho. You have to really love the Dep II as it will be cheaper to get a new alternative exhaust?

Be very cautious of cheaper jobs, as many have said before, buy cheap buy twice. I learnt the hard way ](*,)
