BELIEVE IT!!!!!.......I'M BACK!!!!!

Post by Bobby (aka Shaggar) »

Short recap folks..

The story starts with my pride and joy being hit by a stupid old man after 8 years of ownership and a spend of £22k. It once looked like this...

http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/garage.php ... e&CID=1149

then after the ***** *** ******** **** hit it, he turned it into this....

http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... highlight=

..eventually got a hassle free settlement and held onto the remains. Initially put up the smashed car up for sale but didn't get the kinds of offers I wanted so decided to find a nice base car to transfer everything over to. Almost ran out of patience after looking at so many damn dogs. Trust me guys, you may think MR2s have dropped in value. Let me tell you, there are exeptins but its basically a load of low priced sh**heaps making it appear that way! Almost lost the faith and even started that lean over the the RX7 clubs again. At the eleventh hour, the right car came up and here she is. I present to all my IMOC friends the new Bobmobile.....

A minty rev2 tintop tubby. Lighter and to be fair, I only took the T-Bar out twice last year so didnt see the point. Besides wanted something very different to the last car as I'm a bit gay and sentimental about cars.

Mods:

Fox alloys - 18s on rear, 17 on front!!!! (loads of tread on all tyres)
Mongoose exhaust
HKS turbo timer
Aftermarket air filter
Uprated clutch
3SFE front bumper (yes! just like my old car, love this foglight-less bumper)
Debadged (a man inspired by my last car perhaps??)
Lowering springs
'Personal' sterring wheel
Aftermarket gearknob
Decat pipe
Manual boost controller

serviced and looked after by Rogue and has loads of history. So looks like my turbo, forged engine and other goodies will soon have a new home. Strange having another tubby but its diffrent enough so it's all good. Feels god to be back in the 'cockpit'

Amen.

Glad you're back in the fold fella. I remember reading your 'crash' post and having massive empathy. Hope all of the swap over goes well and look forward to seeing the final results.... will you be de-spoilering again?

Thanks mate. Thats a very good question. I'm not sure. Part of me loves that look and another part of me wants to go down a different look. Maybe a rev5 spoiler? Saw a spoiler that make the car 'almost' spoilerless which I like but dont know who makes it. For the oldies, it looked like the old Capri spoilers, just wedge over the boot corner. Hmmmmm, Capri spoiler?? Could it? Could I? Should I?

Ah, the ducktail spoiler! I remember the old capri ones... just a bit of heavy rubber moulded to shape, I wonder if an old one could be altered to fit a 2?
It's the integrated spoiler/bootlid look that Carben Fibre Creations are toying with producing (as a one piece item in carbon).... check out their future projects thread over on the OC.

mad psi do the duck tailed boot lid but its in carbon fiber and quite expensive There is 1 on you tube ( possible new trunklid design for MR2 (very rough) ) (if you put that in the search) this is in my eye's exactly what the mr2 needed from the start
oh and buy the way love the new car seems to be a very clean example :thumleft:

Thanks for all the comments guys. Yes, indeedy, she is an absolute minter and definitely worthy of a major engine upgrade. Very pleased with the find.

As for the spoiler discussed, you have it all wrong guys. Tose above are waaaaaaaay to much. I'm talking about just a lip to dress the edge like this...

Well to be honest, I did say that if the first car got written off, I'll walk away from MR2s. I just get too sentimental about cars. Having sad that my brain stepped in front of my heart saying that I couldn't sell the investment in that car for so little. Best option was to put it all into another car. Just made sure it was a different year/rev, different colour and not a t-bar. As anal as it sounds, Im glad it already has a different third party steering wheel and gearknob as it mean I dont have to bring mine over.

Once it has my forged engine, turbocharger etc, it should be a very satisfying ride.

Cosmetics wise only changes to come immeditely are rev3 lights, Sard side extensions, and the toyota badge off the front. Cleeeeean.
