Ok, dont really know where to start, been working on the car on and off for the past 4 years or so now, and its not far from completion, well, i suppose starting from the beginning would make sense!
Sooo. I purchased the car as the 1st uk owner, it had a genuine veilside kit, a few goodies ie Fcon-V, Blitz-k1-380 turbo, PP SMIC, TRD LSD etc etc. the car was said to be making around 340 fwhp at 1.5bar, but tbh i dont know how true this was.
How it used to be :-
Anyhow, after 11 months of screaming about at near 1.6 bar, not really thinking it could be doing any harm, my pistons finally went pop! Ok, this is my 1st turbo car, how was i supposed to know!! So, off the road it came, with the intention of a quick rebuild and back on the road. I used to be an apprentice mechanic some 8 years ago and i have built a couple of engines and have a generally good knowledge of the science behind a cars mechanics, so i decided to have ago at fixing it myself.
So, we waited for the weather to be at its absolute worst, and we set off to work
We started fresh an early in the morning ( noon ), then spent the next 2 hours constructing a marquee out of tarpaulin sheet and about a million cable ties, in the middle of a hurricane / thunderstorm -even tho it doesn't look that bad in the pic, believe me it was!!
at about 3am Viola! there she is!
and heres the damage...
So, my spec. It was supposed to be. Forged pistons, rebore, vitals like bearings etc, DONE! But thanks to Ant (cantfindausername) interfering and giving me ideas, it turned into a project that just got more and more out of hand.

Top marks for attention to detail, looking good pal

Hi
That looks fantastic, what an amazing amount of thought and care. Can't wait to see it all finished.
One sad thing that shows my age is I thought "wow, where did he get the WD40 with that spray top fitted from"!

Re: Getting there.. My "600whp" cashpit! WARNING LOTS OF PICS!
Thanks for the kind words Its certainly been a mixture of hate and happiness with this so build far though; had a lot of hiccups and a few oil spills etc etc lol. but its great when it all comes together and the end result is fab! Especially knowing you did it yourself and the fact that i have literally learnt everything as i have gone along purely from asking loads of questions, ringing companies for advice and researching like hell!
Well, here is the last of the pics (so far). Its not looking as pretty as the previous setup with the stock TB, but its still work in progress and will be tided when its complete.
Big thanks to Bob Hatton for the goodridge parts.
ATS TFFR, 1200cc injectors, Summit racing inline filter and gauge, couple of goodridge fittings.
My custom fuel tank pickup (Cannot take all the credit for this tho,got the idea from ^trickster^ )
From this
To this
Bay with new manifold and fuel system fitted (believe it or not, its actually in need of a good clean and polish!)
BMIC With fuel pump now in place. There is some dodgy pipe work on the TB side, but will be addressing that soon.
And Finally the car as she is now
Borrowed the 4x4 from work and hired a trailer for £60! Never drove with a car trailer before so was very nervous, not quite the same as driving an artic lorry.
Ryan and Thingymabob working the magic.
Currently i am making 418.1 fwbhp and 370 lbft!! I must point out that this is on a Blitz k1-380 turbo (which is basically a Hybrid CT20)! This turbo is fully refurbished and will be up for sale soon. I am also using a bone stock rev3 head!
I must Point out about the shape of that graph, on the day of tuning, the Profec-b that i recently purchased on here second hand turned out to be faulty so we had to throw my oldskool blitz EBC back on in a hurry and it was not set up at all, So the gain etc was at the minimum, hence the smoothness of the graph. When we got out to road test, we played with the gain slightly and you could feel the boost coming in much harder, this would have obviously affected the graph in a way which the power curve will be steeper and make more power sooner.
The plans to finish the car now are :-
Garrett/FP GT3582r with HTA Billet compressor wheel and anti surge housing
Top mount manifold (already got)
3" V-band downpipe
Tial MV-R 44mm external wastegate with side exit screamer pipe
1ZZ COP converion
Custom alloy water bottle (to replace the 1.5L orange squash bottle lol)
AEM EGT gauge
Cusco front strut bar
poly-bushes and new ballpoints
R888's
Then hopefully 2 bar of boost and + of 500bhp at the wheels!
I have also been toying with the idea on flaring the arches out and blending them in with a set of genuine border skirts that i have in my loft! but this would mean new rims etc and its going to get expensive, its another project on its own basically and i dont know if i fancy it tbh.
Thanks all for looking! (and i apologise if your pc has blown up from all the pics )

Re: Getting there.. My "600whp" cashpit! WARNING LOTS OF PICS!
Absolutely beautiful engine work.
Stunning.
Also nice to see you get rid of the fugly Veilside front.
I know some people like em and they can look okayish on a bigger car but they just don't look right on an MR2 IMO.

OK Ryan, NOW I see why you don't want to sell it.
Btw, I've met you before somewhere, it must have been either JAE 2008 or perhaps a RR day once?
I remember your car and you I know that.

Can't see the pics while I'm at work, but I know this build quite well, and the detail and time that Ryan has applied to it. One word pretty much sums it up... Stunning
