Japspeed manifold question

Post by Despise »

Hello all,

http://www.japspeed.co.uk/Toyota-MR2/Ex ... 26-72-465/

I wanted to know what everyone thinks to this manifold, I brought it about 9 months ago and its been sitting in my boot waiting to be fitted. It was brought 2nd hand and has done about 5k miles i was told. I was told shortly after buying this that there prown to cracking by a couple of people but told by others that there fine so i wanted to ask on here what everyone thinks to the manifold.

Please help me as i'm getting sick of it being in my boot and the extra power this is quoting to give would be nice instead of the extra weight in my boot :) But i dont want to waste the cash getting it fitted to only remove it after a few weeks as i do have a heavy foot as the guys who know me know :)

Regards,
Paul

i havnt hurd the best of reviews on these sort of mannifolds but imo all tubular mannifolds will crack in time due to the extream tempretures and how much the stainless exspands and contracts wich leads to cracking around welds etc, im looking for figures of 450+bhp with my build im using the stock exhuast mannifold wich is more than surficiant enough and will not crack, i wouldnt of thought youd see hardly any increase in power if any i think it would more hastle than its worth to be hounest dude, probebly why the previous owner took it off the car after fitting it so recently

not rearly the costs would still be the same to reach goals of 450+ regardless of rev

i see your attraction to them aswell as there shiney and well is an improvment on stock.

couldnt you fit it yourself to save costs?

then if it isnt for you sell on

This might be completely usless info but I had the Jap speed twin exit backbox on my rev 2 NA and after 8 months the thing ended up with a fracture near the Y piece just after the centre section join thus sounding pants  , nice to look at, v loud but not so good quality and weak imo.

I would agree with the others and stick to stock mate :thumleft:
