Yep, rubbed down to bare metal, wet and dried over and over right down to P1200 and then polished and polished and polished and polished.

Glad you all like them, thanks for the comments.

Don't fancy doing any more for a while tho until my fingers grow back.
Thanks for the offer tho Glendal. LOL

unless you lacquer them, i give it about a week in English weather before they are covered in corrosion and need polishing again lol.

You need to shade the inside bits a darker colour. Looking good though, and as Jim says (in a surprisingly consise way  ) , get some laquer on there!!
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

I have done mine also, last summer ... winter(a lot of work!!)
I 'm in the middle of the restauration of my car for the moment so I still don't know how it looks on the car! :?

I'm not going to put lacker on it, because I'm afraid it wouldn't stay on it for very long and become very ugly after a while. So I'll have to clean them a least twice a month with Unipol and now I'm going to try to put some Turtle wax on it to keep them clean for longer time. The idea behind Turtle wax is that it will be more difficult for water and dirt to stick on the rims...

I also buy a chrome coloured spray for the center caps, but I'm affraid of the result, any experience?

Hi gang,

Thanks for the tip Jim but I laquerd them last year, hence the "redone" in the title.

As Frank says, I just couldnt keep the laquer on properly as well as keep the high polish look so I rubbed it all down and started again vowing to just keep on polishing and as it is only a fair whether car it shouldnt be to bad.

The colour in the teardrops is Toyota 141 metalic gold from two tone 1988 CarinaII that I had when I was young and it has a very subtle silver/gold flip to it. These bits have been laquered in to keep the shine.
I loved the colour back then so I had some made up and put in a spray can from a paint supplier as it is no longer availible.

Frank---- What can I say???? They look absolutley FANTASTIC :thumleft:
I have never uesd chrome spray before, the centre caps on mine just had the same rubbing as the rest of the wheel and it came out like that.
Just lucky I guess.
Are your's from a MK1, I have never seen that type before?
Well done fella.

Thanks! I'm really curious to see them on the car !!!

The wheels were sold in Europe on the Corolla GT but I have an American advertisement leaflet for the MR2 with the same wheels.
So I guess they were sold with those wheels overthere.
The previous owner of my car put them on the car and I found them nice, so I kept them.
The only little disadvantage is that the wheels are only 14inch...

Cheers,

Frank
