Show us your track car???

Post by bri0905 »

Hello all,

I hope this is in the right section?

I'm just about to start stripping my rev 3 for proper track use. Will be fitting a cage and seats, removing the dash and as much other non essential weight i can.

Was wondering if everyone who has a dedicated track mr2 could post a few pictures of what extremes they have gone to?

Be nice to see a few interior shots and some exterior possibly with a short explanation of what you've done and the benefits?

Thanks

Bri

Again have a look in my garage for a few pics of my track car (though it is a mk1 similar principles apply!)

a few choice mods for me....

Interior strip and weight loss : free :thumleft:
Air induction modification : have a look in the garage for additional vent and piping
Lightweight wheels and R888s : a small collection developing in my garage!
Whiteline ARBS : seriously helped combat body roll despite uprated springs / dampers : this should be high in the agenda!
Yellow stuff pads : have been great for my driving style.
RBF600 brake fluid : stopes boiling fluid resulting in air bubbles.

Here is a pic before the roll bars were fitted..

Good stuff. I'm not taking out the stuck on sound deadening as i can't face the finger pain of scraping it all off.

Will add pictures of mine very soon as the cage should finally be going in next week.

I did it on a sunny day in the garden so wasnt that unenjoyable. Also a good weight saving - 2 carrier bags full!

If you try it in the freezing weather it will come off in bigger pieces and be much less effort! :thumleft:

Yup...absolutely worth it- that stuff is much heavier than it looks, and there's a shed load of it!

Rubber mallet and chisel or a long blade screw driver. I also found that scoring it into squares helps it break up better. If you can get hold of some CO2 blast it, freeze it and then it will come up a treat.

If I remember rightly from doing mine, WD40 sprayed onto it will really help remove the last little smeared bits.

Heat gun and scraper also work well in getting it off
