[Mk2] [Turbo] Removing the CT26 Rev2 and replacing the CT20b turbo rev3

Post by DavesMr2turbo »

Hi all

In the process of removing the ct26 rev2 on ramps outside in the cold. i am struggling in removing the hard metal oil pipes. just looking at removing the pipe from turbo but cant seem to get on one nut. then tryed looking at removing the big bolt from the block. i can get it loose but cant get it off,

Also will i have to swap over the oil pipe that goes to to the sump .will i have to use the ct26 pipe as it looks like different connection going back to the sump.

On the existing ct26 pipe its just a push on connection to the sump and on the ct20b is screwed connection.

p.s Its bloody cold and wet outside lol:(

cheers

easier to remove the turbo connected to the manifold....ive even had it out with manifold and downpipe attached (tho it was a decat pipe, not stock downpipe)...

i asume your running a downpipe, or at least got one to put on? no point swapping turbos then finding out you want to ditch the CAT and need to take alot of the same stuff off again to fit a downpipe.

the oil and water lines should swap straight onto the ct20b....

+1 easyer to take out with the manifold imo.

If you need a downpipe, I have an aussie one that was on mine which had a small crack but I got it repaired by a welder for £15. You can have it for £65 delivered.

Can't remember if i mentioned it before Dave but you will also have to remove one of the exhaust studs from the turbo, i would have done it for you but i couldn't remember which one.

IIRC Toyota don't actually refer to the Rev3+ MR2 turbo as a CT20b, that's an internet / enthusiast thing.

Yes it is an Internet name
So just make sure if your looking for a rev3 turbo, people refer to them as the ct20b
