Thought a bit of fun, and as I just got my MR2 MK2 Rev3 tubby!

If people list their top 3 tips for owning these cars? Could be driving style related, mechanical notes or any "must know" type infos really :D

Box oil (MT90) & shift bearing change.
Made a HUGE differnece to the gear shift feel on mine, not too pricey either!

Don't bother working out your MPG...

Do drive the thing as much as you can :D

Propper 4 wheel alignment, Wheels in Motion do a good job :thumleft:

Falken FK452 Tyres :thumleft:

If you have stock ECU turn the boost down ASAP :thumleft:

* Full car geometry setup at WIM
* never put the handbrake on in cold/frosty conditions!
* avoid lifting off when taking a corner at speed :P

Always buy proper mods.dont ever go with the cheap option.

dont bring it to a mechanic who has never worked on one

And Do NOT try and drift it!

Suspension

Tires

Geometry.

Make sure all three are in good order, and in the case of tires a good brand.

Misfires! Check all the ignition components. Magnacore leads are crap. check plug gaps. Dont forget the coils and ignitors are quite old now if they are the ones from when the car was new.

Also, water drips on the dizzy cap.

its had a new dizzy cap/rota arms and new plugs - should be good on that front :)

Might look into polybushing as I guess 15 year old bushes have seen better days :P

my best tip is live near a petrol station as you pretty much always have fill them up twice a week

since owning my tubby i use 60 quid a week going work and back :(

but i get there faster :twisted:

2. Never compromise on tyre quality or size
