How good are the plasma boost gauges

Post by neoeire »

hi all,
i am looking to get some new gauges for my turbo, but i want to know how acurate is the boost psi gauge, so i can get 15psi on the nose for boost and 17psi for the fuel cut off thing...?

or are they just for looks?

i want to get 6 gauges to match up with the plasma dials here
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-MR2-180MPH ... 439c73d095

and these are the boost gauge, and boost gauge sets im looking at.
boost gauge:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PLASMA-DISPLAY-TU ... 2556a2b517

set of 6:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MATCHING-SET-OF-6 ... 5884936063

i have look around the net for gauges with needles that would suit the white dial and plasma nite look with no luck so if any1 out there knows of any, or have these gauges and can tell me more about if there any good, please let me know...

thanks

i just bought a set, haven't fitted yet but they look ace all lit up.
tested water temp sensor in a mug of hot water and it was to temp in about 3 seconds and within 5 degrees of my digi thermometer,

tested the boost gauge and its a little slow registering fast changes in pressure
but all in all very happy for £15quid per gauge comes with good fitting kit and all adaptors.

the 3 pod pillar mount doesn't fit an mr2's pillar if your planning on one of those as well,

I've got some of these (Boost, oil temp, water temp). As redmoose mentioned they may not have a super fast response rate but we're talking milliseconds. (Although I've not had any other gauges, just using my perception)

Only slight negative for me is the narrow viewing angle, but this can be overcome by proper placement.

Overall, excellent for the price!

Cheers
Tom

PS: They eBay seller mcgillmotorsports are very good to deal with.

thanks for the reply guys,
when any1 can, could u let me know if the boost gauge is accurate and if the delay would affect tuning as i noticed in the pics, the lights dont look to line up with the numbers??

or is the delay not enough to cause problems?

thanks

i'm sure they'd be fine but i'm going to use a standard needle type gauge for my boost controller setup then install the plasma in its place.

i'll get them plumbed in side by side and see how they compare
the boost is the only one i can foresee a problem with regarding the delay.

that would be great if you could do that...
or even upload a youtube video of the 2 side by side...

im still making my mind up about needle or plasma, so i will wait to see how you go...
