Aftermarket seats

Post by RobCrezz »

Can anyone school me on aftermarkets seats and runner and subframes....???

I really like the Corbeau Boss sports recliners, they look like that have nice support but still comfortable for longer journeys on the road (I also fancy the comfort as I want some coilovers, so I know the ride will be hard). They dont sell any frames specifically for the MR2, but I want to retain seat movement, so they can still be adjusted forward and back.

What do I need? Is it a mission to fit them?

Thanks in advance!

I see. So they still slide back and forward?

How tall are you?

Nearly all aftermarket seats sit higher than the stock position in my experience. They have all been bottom mount though, not sure if side mount would suffer from that.

Only 5'10.

I just really want some more comfortable but more supportive seats, that can still be adjusted. Seems like a mission! ](*,)

Not many manufacturers ever catered for the SW20 because it doesn't have a flat floor like most cars.

You pay through the nose if you do ever find the correct mounting brackets (FIA approved brackets are a fixed standard aren't they? don't know if they allow adjustment though) from the manufacturer so you are best off getting someone to weld up something with the stock rails, which is more or less what I have got.

I bought the seats with the rails already done, otherwise I'd probably be a lot more helpful!

I *believe* Bride and Recaro do MR2 subframes, side and base mounted. Rare as rocking horse crap though :(

Target is more comfort Rob, not being held in the seat better :thumleft:

Yeah Im after a bit of both really. Dont find the standard GT seats all that brilliant, bit more comfort and bit more support.

Ahh. Shouldn't have skim read the earlier posts. A CG lock Rob just holds the lap part of the seatbelt taut thus securing your position in the seat much more firmly but as Toxo says it'll do nothing for your comfort requirement.
GG lock and a cushion?
