Hi all,
When I purchased my mk1b the original stereo head unit which must have been huge to fill the gap , has been ripped out leaving a massive hole to fill. I want to fit my normal size sony unit but I need a plastic support to hold the unit in place. Any ideas where to get one from or what any other mk1b owners have done when fitting a normal stereo? I suppose Il need a plate to go beneath as well?

Re: mk1 stereo console mount thingy?
As standard it should look like this (not the standard stereo in this pic)
there should be a small cubby hole under the stereo. If you take the front panel off (2 screws above the heater controls and 2 clips at the botttom) underneath should be 2 metal brackets that are secured with 2 screws each and hold the stereo and cubby hole in place.

Cheers Jimi and thanks for the pic, I just need to find a place to get one from. Perhaps Il have to go direct to Toyota. Any ideas otherwise?

Try ebay, there's always someone breaking a Mk1 on there.

You need to make sure you get the brackets for the MK1b as the brackets for the 1a are different. They are not interchangable as the MK1a only has a single din space.
