Highest powered standard turbo???

Post by J-1 »

What's the highest powered standard turbo on standard internals?

I am at 258bhp @ the wheels so maybe 305bhp @ the fly, and I was wondering how much further can they go?

Not much, probably get a better figure throughout the rev range with a standalone but i don't think you would see much at the top end, probably a little more with a st205 chargecooler :-k
The problem you have is weather the ringlands will hold out, injector duty not going to high and the standard clutch holding out.

What mods do you have and what boost are you running to get that figure?

I'm wondering that myself. I was at 288 at the wheels with bolt on mods only, stock ECU and turbo at 1.2 bar. I've since rectified a few issues and made some improvements to my chargecooler setup so should be very close to 300 at the wheels now. My internals, fuelling and clutch are still stock and I'm wondering how much longer the clutch is going to last as it's still on the original one!

Mongoose Exhaust
Arc Box

Think I may have that beat, just

According to this dyno run I did in 2008 I was getting 313 at the fly, 274 at the wheels.

Fitted a chargecooler and upped the boost a fraction then tried again on a hub dyno as nobody believed the first figure

They never gave me a flywheel figure but I guess it would be around 325/330 ish?

Has anybody ever made 300 at the hubs with just bolt on mods?

Nice numbers, but you can't really compare a Dastek to a Dyno Dynamics. Be interesting to see what both cars would put out on the same dyno. :thumleft:

Cheers, they are good numbers. It was my car on both dyno runs, not a different car. The second run on the hub dyno reported a 14hp wheel increase over the first run on the Dastek and as I'd installed a CC and upped the boost by 1.5 psi between the first and second runs it suggests the first run on that particular Dastek was accurate as 14hp is about what you'd expect from those changes. A hub dyno doesn't lie so I'm pretty happy both runs were accurate as the figures match up given what was changed between runs.

I will be going back to the same hub dyno at some point soon as I'm curious to see if I've managed to break the 300 whp mark.

Still good figures though :thumleft:

Was that 1.4 bar with a stock ct20  if so, not surprised it was running out of puff!

Curious to know if you were running stock fuelling and clutch at that power?

Yeah I know, I meant it would be good to see your car and the car I posted with the same power figure compared on the same dyno. :thumleft:

The one I linked to was on a Dyno Dynamics, yours was on a Dastek. :)

Sorry, my bad  #-o Instantly on the defensive as not many believe my power figures and some think I'm running a stand alone ECU on the quiet  Which I'm not I hasten to add

Fuelling system was modified with a swirl pot/aeromotive fpr and bosch 044 external pump...now its got a in tank 255ltrps in tank and 1000cc precision injectors and a custom side mount fuel rail aswell!!

Clutch is pheonix power/Os Giken BIG twin plate special.... :thumleft:

Your fuelling is fine. You could lean it off to 11.x:1 and get more power out of it.
