Fitting Hands Free Kit - A-Pillar Trim Removal

Post by Ashy »

After twelve years have just changed my Rev 1 car for a Rev 3 and while I am fitting the CD player I might as well fit a Parrot hands free kit. I will need to get the mic upto the interior light area so my simple question is can anyone tell me how to remove the A-pillar trims so I don't pull in the wrong places and break things.

Why don't you just place it on top of the steering colomn ?
That's where I placed mine, and it works.

As for the pillar.... I would just pull on it everywhere

I put my mike inside the heater vent, but if you want to put it behind the trim it doesnt need to come off ,just pull off the door frame rubber, and poke the mic wire behind the trim

Be carefull when pulling off ,it doesnt just pull off ,it has to pull off at the top by the dash, and then lift upwards ,(after the pull handles have been removed )to get the trim from down by the door ,
if you just pull it off towards you it will snap in half ,like the bottom picture

Thanks guys. I think I like the top of the steering column idea as it would suit the Parrot CK3100 as it is quite small.

Hold on.

I only mounted the mic there.
The device itself I mounted near the centre console :

Ren0W, I was going to put it there but when I imagined it (and now have seen your picture) I decided I was not that keen. I think I will either put it where you put your mic or out of the way between the fog light switches and the air vent.
