As Lewis said, if they're not retractable then they won't have the switch.

However... You've no idea what's happened since it was built :D
Someone might've sold the retract controller unit before selling the car.
Possibly had damaged wing mirrors changed for non-retracting ones.
Possibly the controller unit or door switch is broke.

Try checking out the last one :)

Another... Your car doesn't have retracting mirrors, but the door unit broke and someone replaced with with a unit that has the retract switch :eye:

How to remove the door control unit without breaking it here:
http://www.turbomr2.com/MR2/HowTo/Door% ... el_PG1.htm

If your car has the wiring for retracting mirrors then you'll see a pink wire on the forward-most connector that goes into the door unit...

Any luck with the retractable mirrors?

I am looking to purchase a pair on ebay, but not sure if they will work on my 93 turbo as i don't have retractable mirrors as standard so not sure if you can simply buy the mirrors and go from there.

You need:
Folding mirrors
Folding mirror control unit/relay
Door looms from a car that had folding mirrors
Door window control unit from a car that had folding mirrors

Hi JohhnyC,

Where can I get 'Door window control unit from a car that had folding mirrors' from, I've checked ebay.

Also am I right in saying that the retractable mirrors automatically extend when you switch on the ignition and automatically retract when the ignition is off?

the mirrors retract and extend, when you operate the switch.
see my post in the for sale ads. for the switch you need to
carry out the conversion.unless of course you allready have the switch.
which sounds unlikely. hope this helps.paul.

It says on your avatar that you are running a rev 2 turbo. As all tubbys are imports it should be fitted with most of the kit.

As Brookesy said get in and have a look, you may find it is a simple switch or fuse blown.

Hi Toreo,

Are you saying that ALL turbos have retractable mirrors? As I thought this was an optional extra from the factory and not specific to certain models including turbos?

I've got a 93 turbo GTS and this is no switch in my car...actually where is this switch even meant to be?

Retractable mirrors fitted as standard to the JDM turbo GT, optional on the GT-S.
