Pops and Bangs in cold weather

Post by Steve-O 2007 »

My car Pops and Bangs in hot weather but during this cold winter its been Realy popping, banging and flaming when blipping the throttle.

Pulled into work and 1st gear down this little 8 meter straight, blipped the throttle and Bang. Got into work and people came upto me telling me flames where comming out my exhaust lol

Is it due to the cold weather making the car run richer or something??

Cold air = denser air = more boost = more flames!

Yeah I guess its this.

Maybe its also to do with the difference in temperature with the hot exhaust and a cold air? :-k

Well again the colder denser outside the exhaust means any flames will burn a bit easier and therefore bigger and brighter.. it all helps!

My old skyline used to shoot ridiculous flames in the cold.

Combination of denser air and the ECU throwing in more fuel due to low intake temps :thumleft:
