Try checking the ecu to see if it's picking up any faults :thumleft:

Do you have an after market down pipe, if so some of them jam the waste gate open.

Check the rod to the waste gate is still in place and holding it shut.

We just got a car that had no boost, it was the turbo, all the blades on the turbine wheel had gone but the bearings had no play.

No. There is a rod from the actuator to it on the outside of the turbo under the manifold held on by a very small clip. When the engine is cold you can get your hand in there and feel if it is still connected.

In top gear at full load it should start around 2000 rpm

I had the same problem mate on my Rev 2 Turbo about 4 years ago!

I was driving home from work and it just stopped spooling all together :( I checked everything and came accross resetting the ECU:

I did this and back to normal :)

and it's been tops ever since!

Hope it helps mate!

Cheers

hi bob this is my first mr2 turbo.im not currently driving it..im getting it ready for next summer.[back to turbo again}i might sound stupid here.but how do i no if the ct26 is spooling up.i reved it today up to 2500 revs..all i heard was a slight noise almost like a whoosh noise.but you really have to listen to hear it..it still has the standard circ valve on it..but also on the intercooler pipe is a bailey dump valve...they are both hooked up together...any advice...regards pete

You have to drive the car to see any boost, it will not boost standing still.

On a flat road, floor it in top gear at 2000rpm and you should see the boost gauge go up to the top of the gauge and you will feel the car start to pull hard. As the revs go up it will pull harder.
