[Mk2] [Turbo] brown oil in water system

Post by lee.w »

brown oily water in the system  , Got it booked in for the garage on thursday , praying it's not the head gasket ( it's not actually overheating at the moment) I heard it could be transmission fluid leaking into the system or an oil cooler leak.

there was some brown gacky xxxx in the cap but not much it wasn't the white mayo, just some light brown sludge. but I also havn't driven it for days so it may have built up somehow. when you mentioned the coolant i could actually smell it sometimes in the car when im driving not all the time just occasionally but it is definatley something new

Yep its coolant mate, mines like that, in process of changing mine, but had some set backs, radiators f!?@ked! You just need to give it a good flush out and get some good instructions on how to do the bleeding procedure and that when you fill it up. There's a good set of instructions knockin about on forum somewhere. Hope its not head gasket, i know that feelin!!
