[Mk2] [NA] Alternator PIVOT bolt - Urgent !

Post by RobPhoboS »

Does anyone have a photo/dimensions of the alternator pivot bolt ?
(I could get a temp fix bolt from homebase/halfords/b&q if I have dimensions of it.
Is there just a nut and washer on the end of it ?

Or if anyone is within an hour from me (Guildford) with one, can I collect ?

---------

MK2\N\A\Import\Rev3

I discovered last night that the locking bolt doesn't have a nut or anything at the other end of it!
What size one is meant to be back there?
(part no for whole bolt?)

It's not even the correct bolt that's in my car FFS

Also another issue occurred !

Before I realised nothing was behind the locking bolt, I started to loosen it, noticing immediately that it was loose, so I thought, ahh perhaps that's why my car had squealed today.
So I began to tighten the long adjustment bolt, the whole bolt turned, so I presumed it wasn't 'locked' any more. I think I was doing it the wrong way, as it was going towards the bulkhead\firewall\front of car.
But then I heard it ping, and the end before the locking part (closest to the head of the bolt) is now at a jaunty angle.
So I stopped.
Shut the lid.
And cried.

So I'll also be needing a new adjustment bolt I'd imagine.
Does anyone know the adjustment bolt part number?

Although the belt isn't frayed, I may as well replace that but I've got air con, so is this going to be a ball ache ?

Cant help you with the part number... but remember, the alternator pivots... the pivot point is locked with tightening a 14mm bolt into the alternator bracket down below, access from below... this needs to be loosened prior to any adjustment.. otherwise you'll only shear the top adjuster bolt...

Think it's this one:
90105-10249

My car's alternator had been held in place by the tension bolt, and the locking bolt wasn't secure nor actually THE locking bolt, just a bolt unfixed.

I've now got the locking bolt and tension bolt but not the pivot !!!

Thought I'd go to b&q, grab a couple of 100mm bolts.
They go through the first hole in the bracket, and the alternator but then the last hole appears to be threaded, and obviously the thread on the bolts don't fit.
