garages.

Post by punkrockscreech »

Hello....dreaded MOT time and she failed......on nearside sill rotten, rear discs pitted and a tyre.

I asked the guy for a quote to rectify all this, he said around 4-600 quid. Fair enough i thought so I decided to buy the discs myself from Ebay, fitted these, jobs a goodun so i then took it back to the guy to do the welding and tyre.

He then rang me to say that the handbrake wasn't working correctly and so needed a new calliper and pads....also that the cross member under the radiator needed replacing!

I gave him the benefit of the doubt and told him to get on with the brakes, then at least i could take the car home and get the welding done else where.

Picked the car up today...guess how much.....£285 just for the calliper, fitting and pads!....rang kwikfit just for a price comparison on this they reckoned about £ 217.

Therefore the car hasn't had the welding done to it.......As you may have guessed I am pretty cross about all this....any one else had their pants pulled down on prices and quotes?

Also anyone know of a decent HONEST garage in Worcester?

that is stupidly high quotes for the work, i would go elsewhere, a specialist would be better rather than backstreet monkeys :thumleft:

It's hard to find honest garages these days mate unless you personally know them. I was quoted 2-3 hours labour @ around 50 quid and ended up with 8 hours of labour.... 50x8 = 400 quid labour.

I'm sure they didnt spend 8 hours on it. I asked them to call if there's anything important but they didn't.

I not sure if there's a law against these things....

i try not to take my motor to a garage to have work done on it mate [-X there are a lot of cowboys out there who just wanna rip off someone ](*,) if ther is any thing i cant handle myself i do take it to a local guy who is great at welding and has his own workshop attatched to his house with a lift and everything a garage has and allways has a load of guys there waiting to have their motor done :thumleft:
